It's Retreat Time

This time of year can get so busy. In one sense joyous, exciting, nostalgic on the flip side, stressful, expensive and exhausting. I have this crazy need for everything to be perfect, just like it is in the movies....and I do love a Christmas movie. I really do want snow on Christmas eve and carol singers knocking on the door. Whatever happened to carol singers?

In the lovely market town of Alton, where I'm determined to live one day, they have carols around the Christmas tree, every year, close to the day itself. It's a beautiful event without the slightest whiff of commercialism and gets very close to my ideal.

That's the dream but the reality of setting yourself, myself up for trying to achieve that is a different matter, that need for perfection can cause stress and anxiety. Over the years I have had to learn to, just like Elsa, "let it go". The magic of the season, however you view it, Christmas, the Winter Solstice Festival, Alban Arthan, Yule, is about community, sharing, kindness, at a time when the dark nights and cold weather can really bring down the mood.

So, the point of all this is to remind you of the beautiful mini retreat happening this Sunday 23rd, in Alton at the Community Centre, 10 till 1.30. It's a chance to stop, breathe and be just you for a moment.
